A total of 12 people have filed for the five at-large Mason County Metropolitan Parks District (MPD) Commission during a special three-day filing period this week – ten of them on the last day which was Friday.
Kris Klusman and Arvilla Ohlde filed for Park Commissioner Position 1.
Steve Van Denover and Jesse Sims filed for Park Commissioner Position 2.
Ken VanBuskirk, Andrew Kinney and Phil Wolff filed for Park Commissioner Position 3.
Monte Warren Ritter and Richard Hoss filed for Park Commissioner Position 4 joining Doug Sayan who filed Thursday.
And John Johnson filed for Park Commissioner Position 5 challenging John Piety who filed Wednesday.
All candidates will appear on the General Election Ballot long with the proposition to create the MPD in unincorporated Mason County. If formed, the Mason County Metropolitan Park District would have a 20-cents per thousand of assessed value property tax levy and the five commissioners to govern parks in the County.
