2nd Day of Filing Nets 2nd Parks Commissioner Candidate

election 2016 speical filingThe second day of the special three-day filing period for the five at-large Mason County Metropolitan Parks District Commission netted a second candidate. Doug Sayan filed for Park Commissioner Position 4 Thursday making him the second person to file. John Piety filed Wednesday for Park Commissioner Position 5. There is one more day to file.

Those interested in filing for one of the Park District Commissioner seats can do so until 4 PM Friday. You can file in person at the Mason County Auditor’s Office, 411 N. 5th Street in Shelton, or online by clicking here.

All candidates who file will appear on the General Election Ballot long with the proposition to create the MPD in unincorporated Mason County. If formed, the Mason County Metropolitan Park District would have a 20-cents per thousand of assessed value property tax levy and the five commissioners to govern parks in the County.
