Friends of Parks Talk Park District Formation with Voice

friends of parks at NMC VoiceMembers of the Mason County Friends of the Parks talked about the formation of a Metropolitan Park District (MPD) in unincorporated Mason County with the North Mason Community Voice Monday night. Neal Winders, Monte Ritter and Arvilla Ohlde discussed the ballot measure which will go before voters in November and how it would form the MPD.

The Park District, if formed, would levy a 20 cents per thousand of assessed value property tax which would be dedicated to parks in the County.

Voters will also be asked to elect a five-member Commission to govern the MPD. These commissioners will be at-large and a special three-day filing period will be held for those interested in running for the position. That filing period will be August 23rd, 24th, and 25th.
