Danette Brannin has been appointed General Manager of Mason Transit Authority (MTA). The MTA Board voted unanimously to extend an offer for the position during their regular board meeting on June 21, 2016. The offer was for permanent, at-will employment to Brannin as General Manager with an annual salary of $90,000 and standard management benefit package with the probationary period waived.
The Board decided to hire Brannin rather than go through a lengthy and costly recruitment process. Mason County Commissioner Terri Jeffreys, MTA’s Board Chair, stated, “After much deliberation, the Board decided an external search was not necessary as the skills and talents needed to lead MTA are evident in Danette’s performance to date. In her four months as Acting General Manager, she has demonstrated the skills and vision needed to continue to grow MTA service from a position of fiscal strength and sustainability. Her focus on building a strong team internally while expanding the agency’s relationships and positive reputation with our ridership and the community gives the Board full confidence in her leadership.”
Brannin started working at MTA in June 2012 and has grown with the agency over the last four years. She began as the staff accountant, then quickly excelled and was promoted to Finance Manager in December of 2012. She left the agency for a brief period, but was still providing contract work for MTA. She returned full-time in 2015 as the Finance and Information Technologies Manger. Brannin holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting.
“I am extremely excited for this opportunity to serve MTA and the community at large. We have a great team that I am honored to be a part of and look forward to supporting as we continue to move MTA towards being a transit agency of excellence that provides great customer service, as well as partners and builds relationships with the community,” said Brannin.
