A primary election candidates’ forum for the seven who are running for Commissioner of Public Lands is being held in Belfair on June 27th. This forum, presented by the North Mason Community Voice, will be held at the HUB for Senior Services, 111 NE Old Belfair Highway in Belfair. MasonWebTV.com and Hood Canal Communications will be on hand to stream the forum live beginning at 7 PM. Joel Myer will be the moderator.
Everyone is welcome to attend.
The Commissioner of Public Lands oversees the Washington Department of Natural Resources (DNR). Two of the most widely used DNR recreational areas (Tahuya and Green Mountain Forests) are nearby. These recreational opportunities help drive the economy. The June 27th forum may be your only chance to hear from these candidates before the August 2nd Primary Election.
Here are the candidates:
Hilary Franz (Prefers Democratic Party)
Karen Porterfield (Prefers Democratic Party)
Steve McLaughlin (Prefers Republican Party)
Dave Upthegrove (Prefers Democratic Party)
Mary Verner (Prefers Democratic Party)
Steven M. Nielson (Prefers Libertarian Party)
John Stillings (Prefers Democratic Party)
As of June 10th, all candidates but Stillings have confirmed they will be attending the forum.
