The U.S. Forest Service and Tacoma Power celebrated the reopening of the Big Creek Campground Thursday. The campground near Lake Cushman had been closed for the past three years while the organizations worked collaboratively to make improvements. Terry Ryan is Plant Engineering & Construction Services Manager at Tacoma Power:
According to Ryan, the improvements at Big Creek Campground are mitigation for the utility’s Cushman Hydroelectric project.
The ceremony concluded with Ryan and Dean Yoshina, Hood Canal District Ranger, cutting a ribbon.
The Big Creek Campground was at 100% capacity during the Memorial Day weekend.
