State Track Results

wiaa track logoEight athletes from Mason County (two from Mary M. Knight; three from North Mason; and three from Shelton) placed in their respective State Championships over the weekend with one winning a title.

Two members of the Mary M. Knight Track and Field team placed at the Class 1B State Championships.
MMK logoThe Owls’ Kaylee Sowle won the high jump with a height of 5-02.00. The freshman from Matlock also placed 2nd in the state in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.51 and was 2nd in the state in the long jump with a distance of 16-10.00.
MMK’s Ian Frost finished 2nd in the state in the discus with a throw of 140-06.
Other state participants from Matlock:
Austin Fries who was 10th in the triple jump and 11th in the high jump.
Kyle Bundy who finished 13th in the 3200 meters.
Zack Thompson who was 14th inthe high jump.
In team scoring, the Lady Owls placed 8th while the boys finished 24th.

Three members of the North Mason track and field team placed at the Class 2A State Championships.
NMbulldogThe Bulldogs’ Terry Reiners finished 4th in the state in the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.14.
Lily Campbell placed 4th in the state in the javelin with a throw of 120-05. The sophomore from Belfair was 15th in the discus.
Tegan Daviscourt was 8th in the state in the 200 meter dash with a time of 27.31.

Three members of the Shelton track and field team placed at the Class 3A State Championships.
SHS axThe Highclimbers’ Mike Husky placed 3rd in the state in the shot put with a distance of 53-00.75. Husky came in 10th in the discuss.
Colton Paller finished 4th in the state in the shot put with a distance of 51-09.50. Paller came in 9th in the discus.
Cody Hall was 8th in the state in the javelin with a throw of 153-03.
Cody Simon was 16th in the pole vault.
