A cancer diagnosis is frightening. No matter the patient’s age, or the type of cancer – it’s never easy news to take. Survival rates, however, are higher than they have ever been, with today’s medical knowledge and resources. But how does a cancer patient and their family get through the maze of treatments and medical appointments – and maintain a normal life?
Mason General Hospital & Family of Clinics and Harmony Hill Retreat Center’s Cancer Support Group are here for you. This is where you get answers, support, and the camaraderie that helps provide comfort and guidance. The next Cancer Support Group meeting is set for Monday, May 16, 2016 at 6 p.m. in the Pershing Meeting Room at Mason General Hospital.
The Cancer Support Group is led by Ronnie Hacken, MA, LMFT, a cancer retreat facilitator at Harmony Hill, and meets every third Monday of the month. It is open to anyone who has been affected by a cancer diagnosis, including caregivers. For more information call MGH&FC’s Patient Navigator Karry Trout, BA, RT(R)(M), CBPN-IC at (360) 432-7706.
