The Shelton girls’ rugby team lost a close one to Budd Bay Sunday 29 to 27. The teams played ten aside because neither had enough players to field the usual 15. Budd Bay jumped out to a 10-0 1st quarter lead and went up 17-0 in the second quarter before Shelton senior Marilyn Leu powered her way for two tries to cut that lead to 17 to 10 at halftime.
Shelton continued their comeback in the third quarter when junior Victoria Berebee scored.
And Leu added her third try and gave Shelton their first lead 20 to 17.
Budd Bay responded and retook the lead 22 to 20.
In the fourth quarter, Berebee added her second try and with Kennedi Eastabrook kicking the conversion, Shelton was back on top 27 to 22.
However, Budd Bay put the game away late scoring a try and conversion for the final score.
