The following are results from high school sports played on Friday, April 29, 2016 including Shelton softball and baseball:
The Shelton softball team scored two runs in the eighth inning to beat Wilson 14 to 12. The Highclimbers pounded out 11 hits with Natelie Albaugh leading the way going 4 for 5 at the plate, hitting two home runs, batting in five runs and scoring three runs. Matlyne Mecham was 2 for 4, with a triple and two runs scored. Shelton improved to 10-and-2 in the Narrows League, 13-and-2 overall. The Lady-‘Climbers are still in second place in the standings behind Central Kitsap. They have four games remaining in the regular season: at Foss Monday; at home Wednesday against Mt. Tahoma, at Olympia on May 6th, and at Timberline on May 9th.
The Shelton baseball team were held to just two hits in their 2 to 1 loss at Mount Tahoma. The T-birds scored two runs in the second inning and pitcher Solomon Moi struck out 11, holding the Highclimbers scoreless until the seventh inning. Shelton dropped to 4-and-9 in the Narrows League, 7-and-12 overall, but still in fifth place, a game ahead of Lincoln. The ‘Climbers play Mount Tahoma at home Monday in their regular season finale.
