High School Sports Scoreboard 4/29/16

The following are results from high school sports played on Thursday, April 28, 2016 including softball, golf, track and soccer:

SHS hiramThe Shelton softball team made it two in a row knocking off Curtis 9 to 7 in a non-league game. The Highclimbers are now 12-and-2 on the season. They return to Narrows League play today (Friday, April 29, 2016) when the travel to Tacoma to face Wilson.

The Shelton girls’ golf team beat North Thurston 77 to 73. The Highclimbers’ Jaymie Pentony was medalist shooting 45 which is 9 over par. Shelton hosts Mount Tahoma Tuesday at Alderbrook Golf Course.

The Shelton boys’ golf team beat North Thurston 100 to 92. The Highclimbers’ Tim Nail led the way shooting a 75 which is 3 over par. Shelton will be particapating in the Duke Streeter Invite at Peninsula Golf Club in Port Angeles today (Friday, April 29, 2016).

The Shelton girls’ tennis team lost at Mount Tahoma 4 to 1. The Highclimbers’ doubles team of Kiara Budge/Loryn Ziegler posted the win. Shelton wraps up the regular season Monday at home against Tumwater.

The Shelton boys’ soccer team lost to Wilson one-nil (1 to 0). The Highclimbers are now 5-5-and-2 in the Narrows League, 5-6-and-2 ovearll. They travel to Silverdale Monday to take on League-leading Central Kitsap. With two games remaining in the regular season, The ‘Climbers appear to be locked into the fifth and final spot in the District Tournament which is scheduled to begin May 10th.

NM bulldogThe North Mason track and field teams beat Chimacum but lost to Bremerton and Sequim. The Lady Bulldogs beat the Cowgirls 50 to 37 but fell to the Knights 63 to 49 and were crushed by the Wolves 115 to 27. The boys’ scores were North Mason 68, Chimacum 61; Bremerton 80, NM 58; and Sequim 106 to 39.

Top performers from Belfair:
Tegan Daviscourt took the 200 and was 2nd in the 100.
Terry Reiners won the 100.
Jeremiah Lambert placed 1st in the 3200.
Savannah Knutson was 2nd in the 1600.
Dustin Johnson placed 2nd in the 800.
Ryan Grogan finished 2nd in the 110 hurdles and 2nd in the 300 hurdles.
Lily Campbell was 2nd in the discus and 3rd in the javelin.
The Bulldog relay team of Ariana Moon, Sheyenne Smith, Skyler Reiners & Tegan Daviscourt finished 2nd in the 4 x 100 and 2nd in the 4 x 200.
The Bulldog relay team of Olivia Kauahi, Skyler Reiners, Sheyenne Smith & Michelle Swearingen placed 2nd in the 4 x 400.
The Bulldog relay team of Jeremiah Lambert, Ben Monroe, Terry Reiners & Ryan Grogan took 2nd in the 4 x 400.
Delilah Steck took 3rd in the 800.
Braden Garland was 3rd in the 110 hurdles.
Cheyenne Filer was 3rd in the discuss and 5th in the pole vault.
Braedent Kemmer took 3rd in the triple jump and 6th in the long jump.
Olivia Kauahi placed 4th in the 400.
Ben Moore was 4th in the 1600.
Yuen Shan Sze-To finished 4th in the high jump.
Trevor Handyside placed 5th in the 3200.
Zack Schaumburg was 5th in the shot put.
Kyle Newton placed 5th in the pole vault.
Michelle Swearingen finished 6th in the 400.
Gabe Seligbon took 6th in the shot put.
Brock Hadley was 6th in the javelin and 6th in the pole vault.
Keara Zuniga finished 7th in the 200 and 7th in the 400.
Nico Ramirez was 8th in the shot put.

North Mason has six athletes competing in Saturday’s Shelton Invitational: Lily Campbell (javelin & discus), Tegan Daviscourt (100, 200 & 4 x 100 relay), Ariana Moon (100 & 4 x 100 relay), Skyler Reiners (4 x 100 relay), Terry Reiners (100, 400, & 200), and Sheyenne Smith (4 x 100 relay).
Next up for the Bulldog teams is the Olympic League Championships at North Kitsap High School on May 7th.

The North Mason boys’ soccer team was shut out by Bremerton three-nil (3 to 0). The Bulldogs are still looking for their first Olympic League win and drop to 2-and-11 on the season. The boys from Belfair travel to Silverdale Saturday to take on Olympic.

The Mary M. Knight track and field team participated in a Pacific League meet at Chief Leschi High School. The Owl boys finished 4th while the girls from Matlock were 6th. Other schools in the meet were Life Christian Academy, North Beach, Tacoma Baptist, Taholah and Wishkah Valley.

Top MMK performers:
Mary Koonrad won the javelin, was 2nd in the discus and 3rd in the shot put.
Austin Fries and Jason Shaw tied for 2nd in the high jump.
Adam Ungren was 3rd in the 110 hurdles.
Austin Fries placed 4th in the triple jump.
The Owl relay team of Austin Fries, Tommy Jones, Alec McGee & Jason Shaw finished 3rd in the 4 x 100.
The Owl relay team of Zack Thompson, Tommy Jones, Cole Ruthruff & Spyder Wentz placed 4th in the 4 x 400.
Spyder Wentz was 6th in the javelin.
Zack Thompson took 6th in the triple jump.

Mary M. Knight has two athletes participating in the Shelton Invite Saturday: Ian Frost (in the discus) and Kaylee Sowle (in the 100 meter, long jump & high jump). The next meet for the Owls as a team is another Pacific League meet against Life Christian Academy, Northwest Christian and South Bend which is hosting the meet on Thursday, May 5.
