Updated Special Election Results

election 2016 cAfter more ballots were counted Wednesday, the approval rates for both measures on Tuesday’s special election ballot have increased and both are above 60%.

The Grapeview School District’s voters are now approving the District’s four-year Maintenance and Operations levy by 63.29%. That’s 574 saying “Yes” to the $1.08 per thousand of assessed value to 333 saying “No”.

The latest unofficial results show that 60.84% of the voters in Mason County Fire District 16 support raising the Fire District’s regular property tax levy for maintenance and operations to an amount not to exceed $1.50 per thousand of assessed value. That’s 202 saying “Yes” and 130 saying “No”. Fire District 16 serves the Dayton area west of Shelton from approximately Deegan Road West to just east of Lake Nahwatzel; from just north of Lost Lake to Eells Hill Road.

Election officials in the Mason County Auditor’s Office have now counted 1,240 ballots from Tuesday election which increases voter turnout to 41.84%. The next count is 4 PM May 5th. The election will be certified on May 6th.
