High School Sports Scoreboard 4/24/16

The following are results from high school sports play on Friday, April 22, 2016 and Saturday, April 23, 2016 including results from Shelton power lifting, baseball and softball and North Mason track, soccer and golf:

At the Shelton Power Lifting Invitational Saturday, the Highclimber boys were the top team with 37 points followed by North Beach and Hazen (both teams scored 19 points but the Hyaks had more lifters earn medals). On the girls’ side, Shelton was third with 16 points. The Lady Hyaks were the top team (scoring 50 points) followed by White River (21 points).

Top Highclimber lifters:
In the 181 pound weight class: Zane VanderWahl was the champion lifting a total of 1250 pounds.
At 132 pounds, Alex Rasmussen placed 1st lifting a total of 810 pounds.
Elly Salamanca won the girls 198 pound weight class lifting a total of 725 pounds.
Of the ten girl competitors at 123 pounds, Melissa MacIntosch placed 1st lifting a total of 685 pounds and breaking all four records in the classification.
Second place finishes went to Matt Malloy in the unlimited weight class lifting 1150 pounds; Peace Lee at 114 pounds lifting a total of 540 pounds; and Tim Lopez in the 198 weight class lifting 1055 pounds.
Drew York placed 3rd in the 165 pound class lifting a total of 925 pounds.
Taking 4th place at 198 ws Brandon Young lifting 1035 pounds and at 123 pounds was John Netzel lifting 610 pounds.
And Tanner Rhodes was 5th in the 198 pound weight class lifting a total of 1010 pounds.SHS power lifting banner cropped

A total of 140 lifters competed in the the Shelton Power Lifting Invitational.

The Shelton baseball team lost a non-league game Saturday at Kennedy Catholic Saturday 4 to 2. The Highclimbers are 5-and-11 on the season. They return to Narrows League action Monday when they travel to Heidelberg Park in Tacoma to take on Lincoln.

At the Terrace Invite & Relays in Edmonds Saturday, the North Mason boys’ track & field team finished 8th while the Lady Bulldogs were 13th.

Top performers from Belfair:
Terry Reiners won the 100, 200 and 400.
Lily Campbell won the javelin and was 4th in the discus.
Tegan Daviscourt was 3rd in the 200 and 4th in the 100.
Ryan Grogan placed 4th in the 110 hurdles and 5th in the 300 hurdles.
Jeremiah Lambert finished 6thin the 3200.
And the Bulldog relay team of Yuen Shan Sze-To, Olivia Kauahi, Skyler Reiners and Ariana Moon placed 7th in the 4 x 200.

North Mason takes on Sequim, Chimacum and Bremerton at Bremerton High School Thursday.

The Shelton softball team suffered only their second loss of the season Friday falling to Capital 12 to 1. The Highclimbers are still second in the Narrows League standing with a 7-and-2 record, 9-and-2 overall. They host league leading Central Kitsap Monday.

The North Mason boys’ soccer team lost to Klahowya 3 to 1 Friday. The Bulldogs are now 2-and-9 on the season. The boys from Belfair travel to Sequim on Tuesday.

The North Mason boys’ golf team lost to Chimacum Friday 167 to 189. The Bulldogs take on North Kitsap at White Horse Golf Course in Kingston Monday.
