The following are results from high school sports played on Thursday, April 21, 2016:
The Shelton boys’ golf team beat Wilson 64 to 54. The Highclimbers’ Tim Nail shot 3 over par 39.
The Shelton girls’ golf team knocked off Wilson 83 to 35. The Highclimbers’ Jaymie Pentony was medalist shooting 11 over par 48.
Next for the Shelton golf teams is the Sibley Scramble at Alderbrook Golf Course on Monday. The ‘Climber golf programs received a generous donation of money from an Alderbrook member who is an advocate for junior golf. Those funds are being used for a local scramble invitational involving both boys and girls teams together, and give our kids a different way to compete in golf. On Monday, Shelton is hosting Capital, Timberline and Yelm in the inaugural Sibley Golf Scramble. Competition start at 9:00 AM. The format is a two person scramble for 18 holes. The boys teams and girls teams from each school will enter three teams, making 6 total scramble teams to represent their school. The team champions wil be determined by adding the best two boys team scores and the best two girls team scores together.
The Shelton boys’ soccer team beat Lincoln 4 to 1. The Highclimbers now have a 4-5-and-2 overall record, 4-4-and-2 in the Narrows League, and have a two-game winning streak. They will try to make it three wins in a row Tuesday when they take on Foss at Mount Tahoma Stadium.
The North Mason boys’ soccer team was shut out by North Kitsap three-nil (3 to 0). The Bulldogs are still looking for their first Olympic League win and are 2-and-8 on the season. They host Klahowya today.
No report on North Mason at Kingston in girls’ tennis.
In track and field, the North Mason boys beat Port Townsend 71 to 47 but lost to Olympic 98 to 42 and lost to Coupeville 89 to 43. The Lady Bulldogs fell to Port Townsend 61 to 54, lost to Olympic 109 to 24, and stumbled against Coupeville 58 to 54.
Top performers from Belfair: Tegan Daviscourt won the 200 and finished 3rd in the 100; Lily Campbell won the javelin and placed 2nd in the discus; the Bulldog relay team of Michelle Swearingen, Olivia Kauahi, Skyler Reiners and Isabella Breda won the 4 x 400; Terry Reiners placed 2nd in the 400 and was 3rd in the 100; Savannah Knutson finished 2nd in the 3200; Jeremiah Lambert place 2nd in the 1600; Ryan Grogan was 2nd in the 110 hurdles and 2nd in the 300 hurdles; the Bulldog relay team of Jeremiah Lamber, Terry Reiners, Ben Monroe and ryan Grogan took 2nd in the 4 x 400; Jacob Moore was 3rd in the 1600; Gabe Seligbon finished 3rd in the shot put; Zack Schaumburg placed 3rd in the discus; and Brock Hadley was 3rd in the pole vault.
North Mason will be competing in the Terrace Invite Saturday at Edmonds Stadium.
