The following are results from high school sports played on Friday, April 15, 2016 and Saturday, April 16, 2016:
The Shelton track and field teams competed Saturday in the 5th Annual Add It Up Invite at Franklin Pierce District Stadium. The Highclimbers’ Alan Konneh won the 300 hurdles and finished 2nd in the 110 hurdles; Mike Husky took the shot put; Cody Simon won the pole vault; William Johnson placed 2nd in the 3200; and Alex Brown-Garcia was 2nd in the 300 hurdles.
The Shelton softball team slipped by Olympic Friday in a non-league game 14 to 12. The Lady Highclimbers scored 8 runs in the first inning and lead 8 to 4 going into the fourth inning where they added 3 more runs. The Trojans added 3 runs in their half of the fourth making the score 11 to 7. The teams each added two runs in the fifth. In the sixth, Shelton got their last run while Olympic got two runs closing the gap to 14 to 11. The Trojans only managed to get one more run before the ‘Climbers held them off. Shelton improved their overall record to 7-and-1. They return to Narrows League play Monday and travel to Mount Tahoma.
The Shelton boys’ soccer team tied Capital Friday night 3 to 3. The Highclimbers are now 2-5-and-2 on the season, 2-4-and-2 in the Narrows League. They travel to Mount Tahoma Tuesday.
The Shelton baseball team was shut out in Port Angeles 9 to 0 Saturday. The Highclimbers are now 3-and-9 on the season. They travel to Foss Monday.
The North Mason boys’ soccer team lost to Port Angeles Saturday 3 to 2. The Bulldogs are still winless in the Olympic League but are 1-and-7 on the season. They host Chimacum Tuesday.
