‘REGISTER EARLY AND SAVE’ FOR ANNUAL GOLDSBOROUGH CREEK RUN & WALK

Plans are in place for The Mason County Forest Festival “Goldsborough Creek Run & Walk” hosted by Centennial Guild, a chapter of Mason General Hospital Foundation.  The Event takes place on Saturday, June 4, 2016, and features a 7-mile Run/Walk, a 2-mile Run/Walk, and a ¼-mile Junior Jog.  May 12 is the deadline to register for the special rate of $20, after which the rate goes up to $25.  An optional, commemorative t-shirt is available for purchase by May 12.  Family, group, and team discounts are also available, and all proceeds benefit Mason General Hospital & Family of Clinics.

The timed event invites runners and walkers of all ages, competitive and beginners alike.  Check-in and registration on the day of the event begins at 6 a.m. at the Shelton Post Office.  The 7-mile walk begins at 7 a.m. while the 7 mile run and both the 2-mile run and walk begin at 8 a.m. The starting line is at Shelton Valley Christian School with the finish line at the Post Office.   “All participants in the 2-mile and 7-mile events are bussed from the registration area at the Post Office to the starting line at Shelton Valley,” said Sheryal Balding, director of the event. “So being on time is critical.”

The Junior Jog starts at 9:30 a.m. from the corner of 7th Street and Railroad Avenue, and entry fee for the Junior Jog is $12.  All categories finish at the Shelton Post Office, with an awards ceremony to immediately follow at 9:45 a.m.  The Forest Festival Paul Bunyan Parade then begins at 11 a.m. on Railroad Avenue.
