The State Department of Ecology held a public hearing Wednesday night to hear testimony on the C Street Landfill. The hearing was requested after Ecology made a presentation in February on an Agreed Order for the Landfill with the City of Shelton. (Click here to view that presentation from Feb. 9th.)
The Agreed Order is a legal agreement that requires the City to investigate the types and extend of contamination on the site through a remedial investigation, explore cleanup options for the site through a feasibility study and propose clean up actions for the site through a cleanup action plan. This process will take at least two years.
Prior to the public hearing, Ecology officials gave a shorter version of the presentation they made on February 9 which was followed by a question and answer period.
The public hearing started at 7:30 and only three people testified:
One person utilized a “Listening Station” and provide testimony before the meeting. Residents can submit written comments until midnight April 16th. Comments can be sent to:
