Paul Bunyan Parade Grand Marshal & Button Art Winner Announced
The majesty of the forest was on display at the Mason County Forest Festival Coronation Saturday, March 12 as royalty for the 72nd anniversary of the event was crowned in Shelton.
Reigning over the 2016 Forest Festival are:
Queen of the Forest – Danielle Salinas, Senior, Shelton High School
Paul Bunyan – Drake Adams, Senior, Shelton High School
Timber the Axe Man – Joeseph McGrew, Senior, Shelton High School
Princess of Cedar – Hannah Salapka, Junior, Shelton High School
Princess of Douglas Fir – Elizabeth Boring, Senior, Shelton High School
Princess of Spruce – Brittani Caldwell, Junior, Shelton High School
Princess of Hemlock – Eryn Earsley, Junior, Shelton High School
Saturday’s coronation event also saw Shelton resident Ron Pannell introduced as Grand Marshal for the 2016 Paul Bunyan Grand Parade.
Bradley Eleton, a fifth grade student at Southside School, was announced as the winner of the button design contest for the 2016 Forest Festival. He wins $100 for the grand prize, and an additional $75 for placing first in the kindergarten through fifth place division (see below for a full listing of the winners in their respective age categories).
The theme of the 72nd Annual Forest Festival is “We Are Timber Strong!” The event is capped by the June 4 Paul Bunyan Grand Parade through downtown Shelton. Many other Forest Festival activities are scheduled Thursday June 2 through Sunday, June 5.

First place winners for each grade class receive $75
Second place winners for each grade class receive $50
