The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory and a flood warning. The wind advisory is in effect until 4 PM today (Thursday) while the flood warning for the Skokomish River runs through late tonight.
Forecasters expect south wind 20 to 35 MPH with gusts to 50 MPM today. Wind this strong can cause broken tree limbs and local power outages. The wind can also make driving difficult especially for high profile vehicles.
Heavy rain that fell over the south slopes of the Olympics on Wednesday and overnight drove the Skokomish River above flood stage. The river will crest early this morning and fall gradually today
and tonight. According to forecasters, minor flooding is occurring and is forecast as the is expected to crest near 17.4 feet around 7 AM.
