Shelton High School was given a golden football as part of the NFL’s Super Bowl 50 celebration. Golden footballs were presented to high schools of players who were on the active roster of a team that played in a Super Bowl. The Highclimbers had such a player Raul Allegre who attended Shelton as an exchange student in the 1977-78 school year. Allegre played for the New York Giants when they won Super Bowl XXI.
Wednesday night during Shelton High School’s spring community pride night, the golden football made its appearance in the Mini Dome.
Since Allegre was unable to attend, Athletic Director Jim Judson thought it was appropriate to present the football to the man who coached Allegre in 1977, Jack Stark. (pictured above with the golden football)
The golden football will be placed in the trophy case at Shelton High School.
