COLD CASE UNIT SEEKS HELP IN DEATH INVESTIGATIONS

sheriff badgeThe Mason County Sheriff’s Office Cold Case Unit is seeking help from anyone who may have information regarding the deaths of 17 year old Tracy L. West in 1988 and 10 year-old Shawn Lowrance in 1999.

Tracy disappeared between 4:30 and 5:00 PM on Thursday October 20, 1988 while riding her motorcycle through the woods between her home on Fredson Road and the Taylor Towne area just south of Shelton. She was on her way to work at what was then called the Taylor Towne Café.  Her abandoned motorcycle was found later that same night by Sheriff’s deputies assisting family members who had been searching for her after she failed to show up for work.  Search and Rescue teams conducted an extensive search of the area with limited results.  In 1994 Tracy’s skeletal remains were found by a hunter in a heavily wooded area a few miles from where she disappeared.

Shawn’s suspicious death occurred on October 9, 1999 in the Olympic National Park at the Brown’s Creek Campground located west of Hoodsport.

Both of these deaths continue to be open investigations. The Sheriff’s Office is requesting anyone with information to contact cold case investigator Nick Patterson at (360) 490-3001 or Detective Jeff Rhoades at (360) 427-9670 Ext 627.  Identities of anyone providing information will be kept confidential.
