Lawmaker’s efforts to improve student nutrition OK’d by the House

audio iconStudies show that kids who go to school hungry don’t do well in class.  This week, lawmakers in the state House of Representatives passed a bill requiring most public schools in the state to offer breakfast after the beginning of the school day.  Before they voted, they heard an amendment from Representative Michelle Caldier regarding the nutritional standards of the Breakfast After the Bell program.  Ruth Johnson reports from Olympia.
