The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for the Skokomish River. The flood warning is in effect until further notice. According to forecasters, heavy rain over the south slopes of the Olympics has driven the River above flood stage and major flooding is possible. More than an inch and a half of rain has fallen on the south slopes of the Olympics overnight and another 2 to 5 inches of rain is likely today and tonight. The snow level will be around 7500 feet.
The Skokomish is expected to crest near 17.5 feet around 1 AM Friday. The river will remain near that level into the weekend. The Skok is flooding of pasture lands and roads in the Skokomish Valley.
