Basketball: Shelton Boys Break Skid, Girls Fall; NM Teams Fall to NK

The Shelton boys’ basketball team ended a seven-game losing skid with a convincing 60 to 35 victory over Central Kitsap Friday night in the Mini Dome.

The Highclimbers jumped out to a 22 to 6 first quarter lead and led by 23 at half: 39 to 16. In the second half, Shelton led by as many as 26 and the Cougars were only able to cut that to 15 points. The ‘Climbers were led by Tyler Giraldes who scored 13 points. Drew Cruse hit three 3-pointers in the first quarter and finished with 11. Kobe Bogh also added 11 points for Shelton who improved their chance for post season play.
CK was led by RJ Secrest who led all scorers with 17 points.
The Highclimbers are now 6-and-10 on the season, 3-and-7 in the Narrows League. They travel to Mount Tahoma Wednesday. MasonWebTV.com and Hood Canal Communications’ HCC.net will provide a live video stream of the game between the Highclimbers and the Thunderbirds from Tacoma. Tipoff is 7 PM.

The Shelton girls’ basketball team lost at Central Kitsap 54 to 33. The Lady-Highclimbers drop to 7-and-9 on the season, 2-and-8 in the Narrows League. They host Mount Tahoma Wednesday.

The North Mason boys’ basketball team lost to North Kitsap 85 to 56. The Bulldogs drop to 4-and-12 on the season and have yet to win an Olympic League game. The boys from Belfair host Sequim Tuesday.

The North Mason girls’ basketball team last to North Kitsap 50 to 32. The Lady Bulldogs are now 5-and-11 on the season and winless in eight Olympic League games. The girls from Belfair travel to Sequim Tuesday.
