The Mason County Forest Festival button design contest for local students is underway for this year’s exciting event. Cash prizes and community recognition are among the benefits of the winning artists. The deadline for entries is January 29.

The 72nd Annual Mason County Forest Festival is June 2nd – 5th, 2016.

The 2016 theme is “We Are Timber Strong!” Original Artwork in any media may be used for an entry (such as pen, watercolor, pencil, photography, etc.) Full guidelines for the contest are available at www.masoncountyforestfestival.org.

Designs may be entered at the Shelton Mason County Chamber of Commerce office located at 215 W. Railroad Avenue, Shelton, Monday through Friday 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM. North Mason County entries can be dropped off as the North Mason Chamber of Commerce, 23910 N.E. State Route 3, Belfair (360-275-4267).

Winners will be judged and selected by the Mason County Forest Festival Committee. The $100 Grand prize for the winning entry will be used for the 2016 Mason County Forest Festival button design. There will be three winners in three categories: grades K-5, 6-8, and 9-12. First Place in each category will receive $75, second place $50, and third place $25. The winners will be announced and the prizes given at the Forest Festival coronation ceremony, March 12, 7:00 PM at the Shelton High School Performing Arts Center.
