Basketball: Shelton Teams Come Up Short; NM Falls to PT; MMK Girls Win

The Shelton boys’ basketball team didn’t score a basket until the 2:15 mark of the second quarter, scoring only 12 points in the first half and falling behind by as many as 19 points before mounting a comeback but coming up short in a 51 to 50 loss to Capital Friday night:

The Cougars picked up their first Narrows League win improving to 4-and-10 on the season, 1-and-7 in League. The Highclimbers drop to 5-and-9 overall, 2-and-6 in the Narrows.Capital’s Chris Penner led all scores with 11 points.
The Highclimbers were led by Tyler Giraldes who scored 10 points.
Shelton travels to Wilson Wednesday.

The Shelton girls basketball team lost at Capital Friday 65 to 50. The Highclimbers are now 7-and-7 on the season, 2-and-6 in the Narrows League. Shelton hosts Wilson Wednesday.

The North Mason girls’ basketball team lost to Port Townsend Friday 43 to 33. The Lady Bulldogs drop to 5-and-9 on the season, 0-and-6 in the Olympic League. The girls from Belfair travel to Port Angeles Tuesday.

The North Mason boys’ basketball team came up short of Port Townsend Friday as the Bulldogs lost to the Redskins 60 to 58. The boys from Belfair are now 4-and-10 on the season, 0-and-6 in the Olympic League. North Mason hosts Port Angeles Tuesday.

The Mary M. Knight girls’ basketball team held Lake Quinault to 2 points in the first quarter on their way to a 40 to 23 win Friday. The Owls were led by Kaylee Sowle’s 18 points, 13 rebounds and 8 steals. Jaycee Valley added 13 points and five steals. And Jadyn Davidson grabbed 9 rebounds. The girls’ from Matlock improved to 8-and-2 on the season, 4-and-1 in the Coastal League. The MMK girls travel to North River Wednesday.
