The Shelton girls’ basketball team held Foss to four first quarter points on the way to a 52 to 41 victory. Paige Johnson led the Highclimbers with 17 points. Shelton improve to 7-and-6 on the season, 2-and-5 in the Narrows League. The Lady Highclimbers travel to Capital Friday.
The Shelton boys’ basketball team led Foss earlier and played with the Falcons but didn’t have enough time to make a final run losing 66 to 56:
The Highclimbers led by seven points in the first quarter but Foss was able to go on a run and over take Shelton. The Falcons outscored the ‘Climber 15 to 8 in the second quarter and led by as many as nine in the period. Shelton was able to keep the game relatively close and the biggest lead Foss had in the game was ten. The Highclimbers were able to close that gap to one point in the fourth but the Falcons were perfect from the free throw line in the final quarter hitting 12 for 12 – only missing one free throw in the game hitting 18 of 19 attempts.
Foss was led by Roberto Gittens’ 24 points. Demetrius Crosby added 16. And Donald Scott chipped in 11.
Shelton was led in the loss by Marshall McCullough’s 19 points. Tyler Giraldes scored 12. And Kobe Bogh added 11. The Highclimbers are now 5-and-8 on the season, 2-and-5 in the Narrows League. The North Mason basketball teams lost to Olympic Wednesday. The Lady Bulldogs fell 46 to 22 while the boys from Belfair lost 61 to 47. The North Mason girls are 5-and-8 overall, 0-and-6 in Olympic League play while the boys drop to 4-and-9 on the season and are also 0-and-6 in League. The Bulldogs take on Port Townsend Friday.
