The Shelton boys’ basketball team started its game with North Thurston on an 8-0 run and led by as many as 11 but the Rams battled back to go up 10 and hang on for the 58 to 54 victory over the Highclimbers:
North Thurston had three players score in double digits: Zack Sibley led the way with 15 points; Wes Reynold added 14 and Clay Christian chpped in 11.
Drew Cruse led Shelton in the loss hitting four three-pointers and going a perfect 5-for-5 at the free throw line for 17 points. As a team, the ‘Climbers hit ten threes and was 6 for 11 from the charity stripe.
Shelton is now 5-and-6 on the season, 2-and-3 in the 3A Narrows League. They travel to league-leading Lincoln Friday.
The Shelton girls’ basketball team scored 21 points in the first quarter and built a six-point lead only to see North Thurston outscore the Lady-Highclimbers in the remaining quarters to win 52 to 46. Paige Johnson and Timber Ware led Shelton in the loss with 13 points each. The Lady-‘Climbers drop to 6-and-5 on the season but 1-and-4 in the 3A Narrows League. They host League leading Lincoln Friday in a game that will be streamed live by MasonWebTV.com and HCC.net.
