Shelton Girls’ Hold Off Hoquiam; Boys Fall

The Shelton girls’ basketball held off Hoquiam Tuesday 42 to 37:

The Lady Highclimbers led most of the way and had a ten point lead in the 2nd quarter but the Grizzlies slowly chipped that down to take a one-point lead in the fourth hit free throws as time dwindled in the game.

The ‘Climbers were once again led in scoring by freshman Timber Ware who had 14 points. Paige Johnson added 10.

Kylie Stewart led Hoquiam with 11 points.

Shelton improved to 6-and-4 on the season. The Highclimbers are off until January 5th when they travel to 4-and-6 North Thurston. Both teams are 1-and-3 in the 3A Narrows League.

The Shelton boys’ basketball team lost at Hoquiam Tuesday 70 to 66. The Highclimbers led by 13 with six minutes in the game before the Grizzles battled back to win.

Shelton was led in the non-league loss by Tyler Giraldes’s 12 points. Kobe Bogh and Ty Fisher each added 11. The ‘Climbers drop to 5-and-5 on the season.

They return to Narrows League play next Wednesday against North Thurston. The Rams are 3-and-6 on the season, 1-and-3 in League play. Shelton’s Narrows League record in 2-and-2. MasonWebTV.com and Hood Canal Communications’ HCC.net will video stream the game from the Mini Dome. Tipoff is 7 PM.
