A 31-year-old Shelton man was arrested early Thursday morning after leading police on a chase from Mason County to Grays Harbor County. According to the Grays Harbor County Sheriff’s Office, the pursuit started on Cloquallum Road in Mason County (where a Mason County deputy attempted to stop a 1991 Honda Accord stolen from Tumwater) went through Elma and ended outside Montesano.
The Daily World reports the man driving the stolen car avoided a spike strip deployed by the Elma Police Department but a Montesano Police officer successfully deployed a spike strip just east of that city’s limits. However, he kept driving, continuing through Montesano and onto State Route 12 with the tires deflating. The car lost a tire and stopped near Central Park.
The man was booked into Grays Harbor Jail for possession of a stolen vehicle, attempting to elude police and outstanding warrants. A 33-year-old Elma woman was in the vehicle during the pursuit. She was released after being questioned by police.
The “Daily Booking” on the Grays Harbor County Sheriff’s Department website identifies the man as Eric Eugene Moore.
The State Patrol also assisted with the pursuit.
