Sheriff’s Deputy Injured in Highway 3 Crash

sheriff badgeA Mason County Sheriff’s Deputy was injured in a crash on Highway 3 early Sunday while responding to a call.

wsp logo3According to the State Patrol, Deputy Nathan A. Smith was responding to the call about 12:30 AM and driving the 2014 Ford Explorer southbound on Highway 3. At milepost 18, two miles south of Allyn, the Deputy lost control of the SUV (which is called “a Mason County Department Vehicle” in the collision memo). The memo then says  patrol vehicle “rotated counter clockwise, struck a tree, left the roadway and came to rest on its side.” The highway was fully blocked for five hours. 

Deputy Smith (38 years old and a resident of Seabeck) was transported to Harrison Hospital in Bremerton.

Cause of the crash is under investigation.
