A 27-year-old Chehalis man was injured in a two-car collision on U.S. Highway 101 just south of the Highway 3 interchange Tuesday afternoon. The State Patrol reports a 1984 Chevrolet Caprice was northbound on 101 about 1 PM. As the Chevy approached the interchange with Highway 3, the car drifted to the left and collided with the cable barrier. The Caprice then crossed the median and struck the driver’s side of a southbound 2015 Toyota Corolla. The Corolla left the roadway and came to rest 30 feet down an embankment. The Chevrolet ended up facing southbound between lane one and lane two of southbound 101.
The driver of the Caprice, Caleb L. Simons, 27 of Chehalis, was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
The driver of the Toyota, James E. Spear, 60 fo Bellingham, was not injured.
Cause of the crash remains under investigation.
