Four Injured in Crash on 101 at Brockdale Road

101 brockdale 072415 AFour people were injured in a three-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 101 at the intersection with Brockdale Road Friday afternoon. According to the State Patrol, around 12 PM, a 1992 Nissan Maxima was westbound on Brockdale stopped at the stop sign at Highway 101; a 2013 Ford Expedition towing a 1999 Tex utility flatbed trailer was northbound on 101 approaching Brockdale; and a fully loaded 2007 Kenworth Log Truck was southbound on 101 approaching Brockdale. 101 brockdale 072415 BThe Nissan then entered the northbound lane of 101 to go southbound. The Expedition collided with the Nissan causing the Ford to leave the highway to the left and roll over. The collision also caused the utility trailer to break free which was then hit by the log truck. The Maxima left the roadway to the right, going off the northbound shoulder.  This collision blocked the highway from more than three hours.

101 brockdale 072415 WSP 4The driver of the Nissan, Cara L.E. Carpenter, 20 of Issaquah, was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

The three Onalaska residents in the Expedition were injured. The driver, 47-year-old Christopher R. Moore, was transported to Mason General Hospital in Shelton while his passengers, 44-year-old Gretchen L. Moore, and an 11-year-old Logan D. Moore, were transported to St. Peter Hospital in Olympia.

The driver of the log truck, Jeffrey B. Schott, 54 of Port Angeles, was not injured.

The cause of this collision is still under investigation but it is possible drugs or alcohol contributed.
