School Board Asked to Name Field for Jack Stark

The Shelton School Board has been asked to name the football field at Highclimber Stadium for former Coach Jack Stark. Jeff Green, a retired reporter from the Shelton Mason County Journal who spent nearly 20 years covering the community, is spearheading the effort and made the request of the Board Tuesday:

Stark coached the Highclimbers from 1970 to 1994, had a 151-98-and-4 record, won two state championships (1974 & 1985), seven league championships, and made six state playoff appearances. The Coach has also been elected to the Washington State High School Football Hall of Fame and the Mason County Sports Hall of Fame. The District will look into the process of naming facilities and see what can be done.

The stadium at North Mason High School is named for the Bulldogs former coach Phil Pugh.

Other notes regarding the football stadium at Shelton High School:

The bubbles in the track have been repaired.

Four light poles on the west side of stadium are being repaired.

Some of the seats in the stadium have been primed.

And a new scoreboard is coming:
