The Shelton School Board has selected the District’s next Superintendent: Dr Alex Apostle. Dr. Apostle is currently Superintendent of the Missoula County Public Schools where he has served since 2008. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Puget Sound, a Master’s Degree from the University of Idaho, a Ed. S. Degree from University of Idaho and a Ph. D. Degree from the University of Idaho, a Principal’s credential and a Superintendent’s credential. Dr. Apostle was a teacher in the Tacoma Public Schools, Principal of Finley High School in Finley School District (WA), a Principal in the Sedro Woolley School District, a Principal in Issaquah Public Schools and Assistant Superintendent for Secondary Education in Tacoma School District. Dr Alex Apostle will replace Interim Superintendent, Dr Art Jarvis on July 1, 2015.
A news release from Shelton School Board President Brenda Hirschi says the Board has conducted a thorough and rigorous selection process that included multiple meetings by staff and community members to vet the candidates. The applicant pool included well-qualified educational professionals from all over the United States. The top three finalists visited the District for daylong meetings earlier this week (March 16, 17 & 18). The School Board has instructed their consultant, Dr. Mike Boring, to enter into contract negotiations with Dr. Apostle. Hirschi ends the new release by saying “We believe that Dr Apostle’s experience and accomplishments will serve to our advantage as we continue on with the Shelton School District mission:
