Officials with Mason PUD 3 say a planned power outage is needed in a portion of Belfair tonight to complete replacement of a damaged power pole near the intersection of Highway 3 and NE Crosswhite Road. The outage is scheduled from midnight to 5:00 AM.
The previous pole was sheared off near the ground late Monday afternoon when a vehicle collided with it after swerving off Highway 3.
An estimated 250 customers along SR 3 will be affected; from PUD 3’s Belfair business office to the intersection with Romance Hill Road. Other areas include:
- Alder Creek Lane
- Byerly Drive
- Crosswhite Road
- Judy Lane
- Michael Drive
- Roessel Road
- Romance Hill Road
- Squire Lane
- Small portion of SR 106
Tonight’s planned outage is needed to move lower voltage power lines to a newly installed pole. These lines serve businesses and homes in the area.
Last night’s emergency outage affected about 2,200 customers. High voltage power lines feeding the Tahuya Peninsula needed to be de-energized for lineman and public safety.
During planned outages, PUD 3 recommends unplugging sensitive appliances and electronic equipment. Wait to plug them in until power is back on for approximately 20 minutes. Especially with electronics, it is important to use a surge protector.
