A flood warning has been issued for the Skokomish River. Forecasters say heavy rain will force the Skokomish above the 16-foot flood stage with additional heavy rain expected to keep the river running high into the weekend. The flood warning will be in effect until Sunday afternoon. The Skokomish is expected to rise above flood stage around 6 PM Thursday; crest near 17.4 feet; and fall below flood stage Sunday morning. Flooding of pasture land and roads in the Skokomish Valley is expected with water flowing quickly over West Bourgault Road and Skokomish Valley Road. Motorists are reminded NOT to drive through flooded areas. This is the cause of most flood related deaths in Washington.
