Periods of heavy rain are forecast through Wednesday and a flood watch is in effect for the Skokomish River. The National Weather Service says the rainfall amounts are expected to be “significant” with 2 to 4 possible in the Skokomish Basin by late Monday night and another 5 to 7 inches possible Tuesday through Wednesday afternoon. According to forecasters, this amount of rain may result in “major” flooding in the Skokomish Valley. The Skokomish River is anticipated to reach the 16.5-foot flood stage around 6 AM Tuesday morning and should crest at 17.5 feet late about 4 PM.
The forecast calls for 100% chance of rain tonight (Monday) through Wednesday.
Also most areas will see gusty southerly winds, with stronger winds possible on the Coast and in the North Interior areas, where winds could be strong enough to damage trees and cause power outages.
