Green Diamond Resource Company President Douglas Reed recently announced appointment of Blayde Fry to the position of Vice President and General Manager-Northwest Division based in Shelton, Wash., replacing Paul Wing, who plans to retire December 31, 2014.
Fry joined Green Diamond in July 2014 as manager of special projects after working at Simpson Lumber Company. “Blayde’s knowledge of both the forestry business as well as the wood products business will serve us well,” said Reed. Fry started at Simpson Timber in 1994 as controller for Northwest Timberlands, based in Shelton. Prior to joining Simpson, he worked at Louisiana Pacific Corporation for 18 years.
Fry holds degrees in crop science and business administration from Oregon State University and a Masters in Business Administration from St. Martin’s University, Lacey, Wash.
Wing has been vice president and general manager of Green Diamond’s Northwest Division since 2009. A 40-year veteran of Green Diamond and Simpson Timber Company, he started with the company in 1974 as a summer forestry crew member. “Paul has consistently exhibited his talent, commitment and dedication while holding numerous positions in the company,” said Reed. “His knowledge, skills, collaboration and humor will be missed greatly.”
