The North Mason football team took advantage of five Elma turnovers and the Bulldogs beat the Eagles in the final seconds 34 to 27 Friday night. A power outage at Phil Pugh Stadium in Belfair delayed the game about 20 minutes. When power was restored, the stadium’s sprinkler system came on and further delayed the game. However, once play started, the Bulldogs recovered three fumbles and intercepted two passes. The last turnover resulted in the winning score for North Mason. The Bulldogs only turned over the ball once. North Mason (1-and-1 on the season) opens Olympic League play next Friday by hosting the 2-and-0 Port Angeles Roughriders.
The Shelton football team was unable to keep up with Sumner Friday falling 51 to 14. The Highclimbers’ Jake Henry did reach the end zone twice – one was on a 76-yard run. Shelton (1-and-1 on the season) opens Narrows League play next Friday by hosting the 0-and-2 Foss Falcons.
