The North Mason fastpitch softball team is heading to State for the 12th year in a row after the Bulldogs used “small ball” to beat Franklin Pierce 6 to 1 in the second round of the Class 2A West Central District III Tournament Friday night. After scoring 26 runs on 22 hits against Sumner, the girls from Belfair took advantage of errors by the Cardinals and sacrificed their way to the win that qualifies them for State and puts them in the District semifinals against White River at 2 PM Saturday. North Mason had 11 hits against Franklin Pierce.
Tristan Stromberg went 2 for 3 at the plate with a run scored.
Amanda Johnson was 2 for 4 with two runs scored.
AbbyMarshallwent 2 for 4 with an RBI and two runs scored.
Kori Frohlich had an RBI groundout in the fifth inning.
Emily Younkin went 3 for 4 with two doubles, two RBI and a run scored.
Marissa Brown and Kimber Bolin both went 1 for 3.
