MMK Girls Win; NM Teams Lose
The Mary M. Knight girls’ basketball team held off Naselle Tuesday as the Lady Owls slipped by the Comets 45 to 44. The girls from Matlock had a 37 to 31 lead after three quarters but were outscored in the fourth 13 to 8. Naselle came close to completing the comeback but missed three shots in the closing seconds. MMK was led by Jaycee Valley and Ashley Kiliz who each scored 12 points. Miranda Sowle and Carlie Adsero each added 9 points. The Owls return home Friday to play Lake Quinault.
Despite leading through three quarters, the North Mason boys’ basketball team was unable to hold off Sequim losing 49 to 43. Daniel Burggraaf had a big night for the Bulldogs scoring 16 points. Matt Boka added 10. And Davontea Davenport chipped in 9. The boys from Belfair are now 4-and-13 on the season. They travel to Olympic Friday.
After leading Sequim in the first half, the North Mason girls basketball team was held to two points in the third quarter as the Wolves exploded for 24 points to beat the Bulldogs 52 to 32. The girls from Belfair were led by quincy Satran’s 12 points. North Mason dropped to 1-and 15 on the season. They host Olympic Friday.
