The Shelton Police Department arrested a 25-year-old man after he attempted to snatch a purse from a woman in the Walmart Store Thursday. According to a news release, officers responded to the store about 5:15 PM. The victim reported that she struggled with the suspect and he fled when approached by witnesses who were coming to the victim’s aid. The suspect got into a nearby vehicle but witnesses were able to get a description and license plate number. Less than an hour later, the suspect vehicle was located at the Arcadia Chevron on the south side of Shelton. The sole occupant of the vehicle was detained and officers were able to develop probable cause for his arrest on robbery charges related to the purse snatching. The suspect, identified in the release as Russell L. Krumpols, was booked into Mason County Jail.
Police are still investigating another purse snatching a week earlier at the Safeway in downtown Shelton. Detectives are looking into whether that incident is connected to Thursday’s incident.
