County Asked to Send Fairgrounds Petition to FAA

video iconThe effort to save the Mason County Fairgrounds has asked the Mason County Commission to send its petition to the Federal Aviation Administration. This petition would help bolster the County’s letter earlier this year asking the FAA to remove restrictions on the property and allow the Fairgrounds to stay at its current location. Beverly Godwin gathered over 4,000 signatures on the petition:

Ms. Godwin asked each of the Commissioners if they want a Fairgrounds in the County:

This request came during the Mason County Commission’s Tuesday business meeting and the Commissioners reminded those in attendance that the future of the Fairgrounds is in the hands of the Port of Shelton Commission but did suggest calling the State’s Congressional Delegation for help in the matter:

The Commissioners did say they will draft a cover letter for the petition and will continue to facilitate any discussions about the future of the Fairgrounds. The Port of Shelton Commission says the FAA will allow renting of the Fairgrounds on a temporary event by event basis as long as there is a plan in place to relocate the Fairgrounds.
