NM Falls in Playoffs; SHS Wins in OT
The North Mason football team fell to White River in the Class 2A West Central District playoffs Friday night 24 to 14. The Bulldogs had their chances getting inside the five yard line twice but failing to score. (There was also a missed field goal.) The Hornets stopped Tommy Marsh on the one inch line on a critical fourth and goal then marched 99 yards to secure the win and a state playoff berth. White River was led by Keenan Fagan’s 201 yards and three touchdowns. Alex Morris added a 36-yard field goal. Tommy Marsh scored both North Mason touchdowns, one on an 85-yard kickoff return in the second quarter. The Bulldogs finish the season with a 7-and-3 record.
The Shelton football team ended its season with a 22 to 20 overtime win over Stadium Friday night. The Highclimbers’ Jake Beck scored on a one-yard quarterback sneak in OT and completed the two-point conversion with a pass to Kris Woods to put Shelton on top 22 to 14. The Tigers answered on their possession in overtime but the ‘Climber defense stopped Stadium’s two-point conversion attempt. Shelton ended the season with their second win, finishing 2-and-8.
