The National Weather Service is saying a period of hot weather is possible the first half of next week. Forecasters say daytime temperatures are expected to climb into the 70s and 80s starting tomorrow (Friday) with the potential for temperatures to end up well into the 80s and 90s the first half of next week. One weather model indicated that parts of the interior could reach 100 degrees next Tuesday and Wednesday. However, it was still too early to tell exactly how hot it will get. Hot weather tends to lure many to area rivers and lakes. If you are thinking about doing this, keep in mind that the water is still too cold to swim in and the rivers are running swift. Jumping into them to escape the heat could lead to death. Be safe and wear a life jacket on or near the water. Also, those sensitive to heat spells, such as the elderly, should be prepared for the possibility of several days of hot weather and plan accordingly.
