[VIDEO]Cadets in the NJROTC (Navy Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps) at Shelton High School graduated from a three-day orientation Sunday. The ceremony was held at Pan Handle Lake 4-H Camp.
Getting an annual flu shot is the best way to protect yourself and your family from influenza. Vaccines can lessen the incidence or severity of flu illnesses and prevent flu-related hospitalizations, doctors’ visits and missed school or work. Health care providers at Mason General Hospital & Family of Clinics will begin to offer flu shots during the month of October, and MGH Shelton Family Medicine will host two flu vaccine clinics for anyone to participate, both from 9 a.m. to noon, on Saturday, Oct. 5, and Saturday, Oct. 12. Call 360-426-2653 for an appointment at the flu vaccine clinic. Walk-in appointments are also welcome.

US 101 – Coffee Creek – Remove Fish Barrier

Description: Crews are building a new alignment for Coffee Creek to remove fish barriers. As work progresses, the project will require a temporary traffic shift on Shelton-Matlock Road west of US 101 near the interchange. This project also will rebuild the southbound US 101 ramps to and from the Shelton-Matlock Road.

[VIDEO HIGHLIGTS] Mason County’s three football teams lost on the road Friday night. Shelton fell to Capital 50 to 20 on MasonWebTV Powered by HCC. North Mason lost at Olympic 46 to 6. And Mary M. Knight stayed within striking distance of Rainier Christian but couldn’t close the gap, losing 56 to 42.
Shelton was shut out by Capital in the first half and the Cougars headed into the locker room with a 29 to 0 lead.
Mason County officials are warning residents about vaping and its connection to severe lung illness.
Mason County Public Health, in conjunction with the Washington State Department of Health and the Center for Disease control, is currently investigating a probable case of severe lung illness linked to use of vaping products. At this time the investigation is ongoing, but the case has been reported to the Washington State Department of Health per recent guidelines issued for severe lung illness reporting. The patient is currently receiving appropriate care and is stable.

Mason General Hospital & Family of Clinics continues to grow and enhance the level of health care service the District offers to the community. In addition to the five new doctors the District hired this summer, MGH&FC will welcome another slate of health care providers this fall and winter, including three psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners. With Mason Clinic opening in February 2020, the District is committed to expanding its behavioral health offerings and integrating those offerings within our new health care setting at the new medical office building.
